Mastica e sputa. Sono i due gesti che danno il titolo a questa performance che indaga il significato della poesia e ne estremizza le possibili estensioni.  Nella black room del museo MACRO di Roma, illuminata solo da una luce di Wood, ho ritagliato, masticato e sputato sul muro ogni parola della poesia di Pasolini L’alba Meridionale. Nel loro ordine le parole sono state staccate una ad una dalla pagina, masticate e trasformate dalla saliva in palline appiccicose: il gesto di sputarle diventa in questo contesto un atto di creazione, di rigenerazione del significato poetico. Attaccate al muro, queste parole masticate risplendono per l’effetto dei raggi ultravioletti. Inizia a comporsi lentamente l’immagine di un cielo stellato che finisce quando viene sputata l’ultima parola della poesia, lasciando solo lo scheletro della pagina dove era stampata.

Mastica e sputa (chew and spit). These are the two gestures that give the title to this performance that investigates the meaning of poetry and stretches its possible extensions.  In the black room of the MACRO museum in Rome, illuminated only by Wood’s light, I cut out, then chewed and spit on the wall every word of Pasolini’s poem L’alba Meridionale. In their order, the words were plucked one by one from the page, chewed and transformed by saliva into sticky little balls: the gesture of spitting them out in this context becomes an act of creation, of regeneration of poetic meaning. Attached to the wall, these chewed words glow from the effect of ultraviolet rays. They slowly begin to compose the image of a starry sky that ends when the last word of the poem is spit, leaving only the skeleton of the page where it was printed.
